SciRedPen reviews text, figures, tables and references, then returns a traceable report and annotated PDF.
One review included when you create an account. No card required.
Your manuscript is sent to OpenAI to produce the review, and deleted after 7 days unless you delete it sooner. How your manuscript is handled
Outputs
Three deliverables per manuscript, each traceable to what produced it.
Numbered markers, highlights and margin notes drawn on the pages themselves, with a cover summary.
Overall appreciation, recommendation, and findings ordered by severity, plus an audit of everything the tool declined to place, and why.
The structured review, the document manifest, the DOI checks, and the raw output of every pass, so a claim can be traced back to what produced it.
Protocol
Not one prompt. A protocol of successive passes, each with a different job, ending only when two consecutive validations agree.
DOIs found in the manuscript are checked against Crossref metadata, and the raw output of every pass is kept in the evidence bundle rather than summarised away.
Page text, word geometry, existing annotations and figure counts are read from the PDF, so later passes argue about a document rather than about a blob of text.
The complete PDF goes to the model as a file, alongside the extracted text: the argument is judged as a whole before any page is looked at closely.
Every page is then reviewed as an image, in overlapping windows. Overlap is what keeps a finding from falling between two windows; coverage is recorded.
A separate pass attacks the review itself, looking for omissions, contradictions and claims the manuscript does not support.
Review and revision alternate until two consecutive validations report no material change, or until a maximum number of rounds is reached.
Each finding's quote is matched back to the actual word boxes on the page. What matches is drawn; what does not is kept in the audit instead of being placed approximately.
One review is included when you create an account. After that, two options and nothing else.

Your manuscript is sent to OpenAI to produce the review, and deleted after 7 days unless you delete it sooner. How your manuscript is handled
Your account controls access inside SciRedPen. To produce a review, the manuscript and extracted content are sent to OpenAI; DOI strings may be sent to Crossref for metadata checks. The project is kept for 7 days unless you delete it sooner. A queued or running review must finish before it can be deleted.
PDF only. A scanned PDF with no text layer cannot be reviewed.
Up to 32 MB per manuscript.
Yes. A review runs on the server as a queued job. Come back later, from any device once signed in, and it is where you left it, with its real progress.
The credit is refunded automatically and the cause is named: an unreadable PDF, an unavailable model or a rendering failure. There is nothing to claim.
You get the review you already have, without spending another credit, even if the file was renamed. A failed review can be submitted again.
A finding is only drawn when its quote matches the words on the page. Anything that cannot be placed precisely stays in the audit, with the reason, rather than being pinned somewhere approximate.
